Sea ice concentration is defined as the fraction of the area of the grid cell containing sea ice and is given in percentage. The product is delivered on a 10 km grid, but the spatial resolution is larger depending on sensor type and combination of frequencies. The AMSR-2 based sea ice concentration product has a spatial resolution about three times greater than the SSMIS based product.

For more details on the different sea ice concentration products see the EUMETSAT OSI SAF webpage, including documentations, product archive and quicklooks.
